What our clients say about us

“I have been going to see Mr Hayward for a number of years now and as a nervous patient have found him and the whole team excellent. Great service today during the lockdown. I called with a problem I was having, Mr Hayward called back within minutes and then sent a prescription to the pharmacy for me. ”

Family Dentistry

Keeping on top of your oral health with regular dental checkups can help to prevent problems from escalating. This means not only saving time and money, but also saving yourself from potentially unnecessary pain in the future.

Regular Dental Health Check Ups

Here at Townley House Dental Practice, we recommend all patients attend regular check-ups. During your dental health check-up, your dentist will provide you with advice on how to care for your teeth and gums.

Preventative dentistry is one of our highest priorities, helping to ensure that your mouth stays healthy, and your teeth and gums stay fully functional for as long as possible.

As a family-friendly practice, we also provide advice for children who may need a little help and guidance in developing their daily teeth cleaning routine. Our team will work with you to help your child establish good mouth care practices for life.

Nervous Patients

Whether it’s your first visit or you’ve been coming your whole life, we understand that not everyone feels relaxed when visiting the dentist. We firmly believe that you are the most important person in the dental relationship and our team is committed to doing our absolute best to ensure that you feel comfortable.

We offer special care to our anxious patients by making sure that your visit to the dentist is a pleasant and enjoyable one. We will happily talk with you on the phone and provide any reassurance you may need, answer any and all questions you might have, and do whatever we can to help you get to the front door.

We will ensure that time is taken to understand your fear and help find a way to manage it. This might be knowing every small detail, or it might be ensuring that you come in with headphones, the right music, and see as little as possible. Either way, there will be a hand to hold if you need it and we will only ever go at your pace. You are always in control and we can stop at any point. Don’t let your fear of the dentist stop you from looking after your teeth and health.

Preventive Dentistry

Our primary aim is to prevent the two major causes of tooth loss – decay and gum disease. Preventive dentistry is all about helping you care for your teeth and gums so that they remain healthy for as long as possible. A good preventive routine keeps gum disease, cavities, enamel wear, and other dental problems at bay.

Regular Dental Hygiene Appointments
Good oral hygiene will reduce the need for dental treatment in the future. For all new patients, a gum assessment is carried out to assess any existing or undiagnosed gum disease, and any necessary treatments to keep your oral health on track. Regular appointments and strong maintenance of your teeth and gums can help prevent future dental decay and gum disease, resulting in less dental work and retaining your teeth for life.

Children can also benefit from dental hygiene visits as oral hygiene instructions are given to them during each visit, and disclosing tablets may be used to highlight the areas missed during brushing!

Cancer Screenings

In the UK, the number of people diagnosed with mouth cancer every year is on the rise. As part of our standard practice, Townley House Dental Practice now includes a mouth cancer screening with every examination.

The screening involves a thorough examination of your whole mouth during routine dental health examinations and hygienist visits. These routine screenings could provide you with an early diagnosis which may potentially save your life.

White Fillings

White fillings can be applied to both anterior and posterior teeth and are used to reconstruct damaged or decaying teeth. The white composite material is matched to the colour of your natural tooth. This is an aesthetically pleasing solution compared to traditional amalgam fillings.

Fissure Sealants

Fissure sealants are white, plastic coatings that are painted onto the biting surface of the back teeth. These biting surfaces are crisscrossed with tiny pits and fissures, providing a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.

To prevent cavities in these pits and fissures you can cover them with a special composite varnish called fissure sealant, which has been shown to achieve a six‐fold reduction in caries development compared to a tooth without fissure sealants. The application of these fissure sealants are quick and simple, even for children, and the benefits are amazing.

Sports Mouthguards

A gum shield (or mouth guard) is a protective appliance or device that is used to cover the teeth and gums. These devices are commonly worn by sports athletes to protect teeth & gums from impact. It also helps to absorb shocks between the upper and lower teeth, reducing the risk of a concussion. We also offer special mouth guard designs for schools or sports teams, with logos and colours to match.

Anti-Snoring Appliances

Our affordable appliances and night guards help to prevent snoring, letting you and your partner enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.

Snoring is a very common issue throughout the UK. When we sleep, the airway at the back of the throat can become constricted. Typically, this happens when we sleep in an awkward position, causing the soft tissue and muscles to close the airway. This blockage causes vibrations in the throat tissue as we breathe, creating the loud noise that we call snoring.
